Sustainable Building
Sustainable building seeks to reintroduce environmentally responsible construction processes that promote a healthier and greener Mother Earth. This is achieved by utilizing resource-efficient building materials that are locally available, minimally processed, durable, plentiful and/or recyclable, such as bamboo and earth.
Sustainable structures are designed in accordance with the local climate; sited with respect to the land; orientated to encourage passive cooling and heating strategies; and constructed with lower-embodied energy, reduced operational costs, and minimal waste, pollution and environmental degradation.
Building sustainably also encourages the utilization of clean, renewable energy; water conservation efforts; self-contained waste systems; recycling and composting; reforestation; and, sensitivity to watershed areas. !
